Claiborne M. Callahan, M.D., is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology whose surgical focus spans cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, laser procedures, and eyelid plastic surgery. Over more than two decades in private practice, she has performed thousands of cataract procedures and treated a wide variety of eye conditions.
Education and Training
A native of Leesburg, Virginia, Dr. Callahan completed undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, graduating with distinction with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, then earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Postgraduate training followed at Tulane University Medical Center with a transitional internship and an ophthalmology residency, completed in 2004 with a comprehensive ophthalmology focus. Her career in private practice has since spanned Virginia, Florida, and Alabama, with ongoing study at educational and training meetings keeping her current on new diagnoses and treatments.
My goal is to give every patient the time and clear explanation they deserve, so they leave understanding their eyes and confident in the plan we choose together. I hold myself to the highest ethical standards in everything I do.
